BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP—The Central Mountain boys’ basketball team will be looking to cure its recent offensive woes when the Wildcats host Bellefonte in a District 6 Class 5A semifinal game at 7 p.m. tonight.
The Wildcats were cruising through early February with a 12-3 mark but have struggled offensively in recent weeks, losing five of their last eight games to fall to 15-8 overall. Central Mountain was held to its lowest point totals of the season in its last two games, both losses: 57-40 to Altoona in a final regular season game and 52-44 to Loyalsock Township in last Thursday’s Heartland Conference postseason semifinal.
Central Mountain is a number two seed in tonight’s district playoff semifinal. Bellefonte (11-11), coming of its best regular season in some time, comes in as the number three seed. The Wildcats already own a season-opening 59-29 road win over the Red Raiders. Brody Baker led Central Mountain in the game with 20 points, including four 3-pointers. Kris Glunt is the Bellefonte head coach. Interestingly the Raiders have been better on the road, 6-3, than at home, 4-7.
Top seed Hollidaysburg (15-6) hosts DuBois (11-12) in tonight’s other semifinal. Winners will play Saturday at 8 p.m. at Mount Aloysius College for the district title.
The record-online will offer live audio stream of the match and will also broadcast audio on WBPZ AM 1230 with John Lipez and James Gallagher offering up the call to bring you all the action. The stream will go live approximately 15 minutes before tipoff.
