ALTOONA – Eleven members of the Central Mountain wrestling team have earned trips back to Altoona for this Friday and Saturday’s AAA Northwestern Regional tournament. Top three at regionals qualify for the PIAA championships March 7-9 in Hershey.
The Wildcats at the District 6 tourney last Saturday picked up first places from freshman Taylor Weaver and sophomore Lane Porter. The Wildcat young guns more than held their own to advance to the regionals. Beyond Weaver and Porter they include ninth grader Derek Keen, third at 106 pounds; sophomore Nik Miller third at 220 pounds and fellow sophomore Gage Sutliff picking up a fourth at 182 pounds.
Six Wildcat seniors go back to Altoona: Johnny Shreffler finished third at 120 pounds; Kayden Busey finished fourth at 132; Cody Coleman was runner-up at 138; Alonzo Henry finished second at 152 pounds; Tanner Riggle was a second place finisher at 195; and Jake Edwards earned a fourth place at heavyweight.
Wrestling begins at 5:30 p.m. Friday and will conclude with the consolation finals and championship finals at 6 p.m. Saturday, preceded by the Parade of Champions.

182 – Gage Sutliff, (6-4, 14-15), Central Mountain vs Jeremy Garthwaite (4/9-1, 17-10), St Marys.
195 – Tanner Riggle (6-2, 25-9), Central Mountain vs Josh Miller (4/9-4, 20-12), Punxsutawney.
220 – Nikolas Miller (6-2, 17-11), Central Mountain vs Charles Crews (4/9-3, 14-17), Williamsport.
285 – Jacob Edwards (6-4, 23-7), Central Mountain vs Avery Gisewhite (4/9-1, 18-15) Clearfield.
