BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – In a key Big 7/PHAC contest, the Wildcats will welcome Shikellamy to the Central Mountain gym this evening. The Braves come to town with a 1-2 dual meet record while the ‘Cats are unblemished at 5-0. The varsity match is slated for 7 p.m.
Shik came up short at Williamsport, with the Millionaires edging the Braves, 39-34 on Jan. 8. Shikellamy also fell to State College 53-15 and picked up their lone win over Shamokin with a 47-18 effort. Central Mountain rolled up a 67-9 win over Shamokin, their only common opponent so far this season on Tuesday night.
The Braves opened their season at the Cumberland Valley Classic then participated in the Buckskin Classic at Connestoga Valley over the holiday break began the new year at the Tool City Classic in Meadville … finishing 12th as a team in all three tournaments. The Wildcats were also at the Buckskin Classic, earning the team title with a first place finish.
Key matchups tonight could see CM’s Cody Coleman (13-6) facing Shik’s Cade Balestrini (13-2) at 138. Then at 145, the Braves Drew Balestrini, (11-5) could face the Wildcat’s Lane Porter, (11-6). At 182, Shikellamy’s Evan Bingaman (11-7) will likely face CM’s Gage Sutliff (7-8). The Wildcat’s Tanner Riggle (16-5) will likely take on the Braves’ Adam Young (15-2) at 220.
The record-online will offer live audio/video stream of the match with John Lipez and Tom Elling offering up the call to bring you all the action. The stream will go live approximately 15 minutes before the match begins.
Keep in mind that the junior high match will be at 5 p.m. If that match would run long, it could delay the start of the varsity match.
